Far Longer...
Far Stranger.
...By Far.
My story begins at the dawn of time, in the far off realm of… Oh… sorry, wrong cue cards.
It actually began in 2007 in Mesa, Arizona. Graduating high school and quickly finding myself looking for some assistance in adulting! In 2008 I enlisted in the United States Army serving Active Duty as a Field Artillerymen ( 13B is the MOS ) stationed, of all places, on Oahu at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. My first wife and I enjoyed a year together before my orders sent me overseas to Joint Base Balad, Iraq for a 12 month tour.
Iraq was like experiencing too many years smooshed into one. But that was one year that impacted me greatly and I will always remember that experience and love the people I met along the way. I returned safely. Finished my military service with a salute. Then returned to Arizona only to get thrown multiple curve balls.
Several years, several grunt jobs, and lots of self actualization got me to where I was married again in Utah and expecting my first child. 2015 found me charging head first into that new life by acquiring a degree in Software Development and getting inducted into the National Technical Honors Society in Utah.
In 2016, I wrote my first book: Insurrection: Caedes, and have it published on Amazon ( shameless plug here, okay? ). I also developed a video game which is on the Steam interface. And so, working steadily as a contract developer with so much going on, why not add a second son?
In 2018, my second son really amplified my desire to be “as good a dad to mine, as mine was to me.”
So I moved back to the valley and started my career in Massage Therapy, like my dad had done To join him on the front lines of Health and Wellness!
I attended the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts ( SWIHA ) in Tempe, but COVID shut the doors on that opportunity in 2020, which sent me back to Utah to be with my kids and putting my career as a massage therapist on hold.
After G-Ma ( my grandmother ), whom my dad was caring for, passed away in July of ‘23, the opportunity presented itself for me to “pick up where we left off”, or as my dad says, “to get back on that horse and ride”.
After much discussion and consideration with the kiddos; I moved back Arizona to resume classes at SWIHA, here in the valley and complete my training to become a Massage Therapist.
While at SWIHA I have studied the following towards becoming a professional massage therapist:
- SWIHA Clinic participation
- Pathology & Anatomy
- Swedish, Sports and Deep Tissue Massage
- Reflexology, Polarity and Myotherapy
- Elder Touch and Cancer Survivor
And many others. Each of these has been significant in guiding me to customize my own touch as I learn how to feel the need of client in that moment. When that all works together, it is a symphony of release and relaxation that I am very much looking forward to providing to my future clients upon becoming licensed.
Until then, I can still provide energy work, and several wonderful forms of clothed massage.
